Eifel-Schiefer Radweg
Monreal
The almost 30 km long Eifel slate cycle path can be started in Kaisersesch or in picturesque Monreal. It leads from the Elzbach valley up to the beech farms of Bermel, on to Kalenborn and to the highest point of the tour near Hauroth. From here, the second half is downhill, initially to Kaisersesch with its St. Pankratius church and leaning tower. Kaisersesch was one of the centers of German slate mining until 1959. From Kaisersesch, the cycle path follows the Steinbach (steep stream) in its quiet valley, where it is accompanied only by nature, and leads to the idyllic village of Urmersbach.
Requirements: The Eifel Slate Cycle Trail requires experienced cyclists due to some steep climbs. A very easy, attractive short variant is the route through the quiet valley of the small Urmersbach stream from Kaisersesch to Monreal (11 km) as a "downhill route" and back by train or there as an "uphill route". The route is not suitable for road bikes.
Note: Please note that the road from Heunenhof to the crossing of the L96 is a residential road and residents have free access to their houses.
