Eifelhöhen und Brohlbachtal
Roes
Discover the exciting circular hiking trail "Eifelhöhen and Brohlbachtal" in Kaisersesch slate country. Regardless of whether you only want to hike a short loop or the entire 23 km route: You can divide up the hiking trail as you wish.
The ideal starting point for your hike is the pilgrimage church of St. Maria near Roes - the Swan Church. Built around 1473 as a hall with three naves, the church was completely destroyed in an air raid in 1944 and rebuilt around 1950. According to legend, the builder of the church was imprisoned, turned to the Virgin Mary and dreamt that he was being carried home by a swan. When he awoke, he actually found himself on the site of the swan church, which he then had built in honor of the Virgin Mary. From the outside, the church is very inconspicuous - but a special experience awaits you when the light shines through the windows and illuminates the interior of the church in bright colors.
The hiking trail connects several places in Schieferland Kaisersesch and offers spectacular views and natural paths. Another highlight of the hiking route is the Kulm - a vantage point surrounded by wide fields (409 m). On a clear day, the view extends as far as the Hunsrück. The view of the Maifeld is also impressive, especially when the rape is in bloom. In Gamlen, the Brodhübel offers an ideal opportunity to take a break with a small picnic. Another attraction on the "Route Pyrmont" is the XXL bench in Möntenich. Feel big for a brief moment and experience a wonderful panoramic view of the Maifeld. Take a seat and let your legs dangle.
On partly shady forest paths, you can experience the unspoiled nature along the Brohlbach stream, which flows into the Moselle in Treis-Karden. The Eifelhöhen and Brohlbachtal hiking trail is suitable for both families and experienced hikers.
Tip: After an eventful hike, enjoy a leisurely stop at the Gasthaus zum Elztal in Möntenich or the Eifelhof in Brohl.
