Steinbach Rundweg Masburg
Masburg
Hiking with a view in the slate country of Kaisersesch
The Masburg Steinbach circular trail, which leads through meadows and forests near the small Eifel town of Kaisersesch, is an easy eleven-kilometre hike. Here on the Steinbach, people have built many mills in the seclusion of nature, which today inspire the imagination. The former Constantia slate quarry also bears witness to the power of people to extract valuable materials from the ground beneath their feet. The villages of Masburg, Hauroth and Urmersbach look back on a rich history of hard work.
As far as your feet can carry you, you could make a pilgrimage from Urmersbach station to Santiago de Compostela, as the circular route joins the world-famous Way of St. James here for a short time. The Gallberg, the highest point in Kaisersesch slate country, is not the only place to look into the distance. On many sections of the route, panoramic views across the Moselle valley to the Hunsrück give you a feeling of great freedom - completely relaxed without the previous hardships.
